Why Defiant Chocolate?

Defiant Chocolate was created to defy expectations.

Chocolate is supposed to be a guilty pleasure — loaded with sugar, packed with calories, and impossible to enjoy guilt-free. On the flip side, “healthy” chocolate is often dry, bitter, or bland. We weren’t okay with either of those extremes. So we set out to make something new: real chocolate that tastes amazing, is low in sugar, and is packed with protein. Despite many setbacks and opposition, we did it. We chose the name Defiant Chocolate, because we were a little defiant ourselves in making it.

We’re Mckay and Leilani, a husband-and-wife duo who share a passion for fitness, health, and, of course, chocolate. As life long fitness enthusiasts and chocolate lovers, our journey began with a simple goal: to create a delicious chocolate that helps fuel our active lifestyles. But we didn’t want to stop there. We wanted to defy expectations—both in what chocolate could be and in how we ourselves live our lives. That’s why we chose the name Defiant.

At Defiant Chocolate, we believe in pushing boundaries and doing more than what is expected of us. We set out to challenge the idea that healthy treats won't ever taste as good as the sugar-loaded stuff we all grew up with.
