Mens Health: David Protein Bar Lawsuit

Update for June 2, 2025: We have launched a federal lawsuit against David Protein, Epogee, and Peter Rahal, where we allege established anti-trust laws were violated by deliberately monopolizing a key ingredient used by numerous health-conscious brands. Should we prevail, we will request that the courts make EPG be available to everyone (especially to our innovative competitors) in order to promote fair competition and provide choices for our customers.

The case is OWN Your Hunger, Lighten Up Foods, and Defiant Foods v. Peter Rahal, Epogee, and Linus Technology (which operates under the trade name David Protein), filed in the Southern District of New York on June 2, 2025. Case: 1:25-cv-04544.

The Future of Defiant Chocolate:

Defiant Chocolate has temporarily paused production following a recent decision by one of our key ingredient suppliers to restrict access to a critical component used in our chocolate formulations. This ingredient, known as EPG, is an innovative fat alternative that allows us to create high-protein, low-sugar chocolate without compromise.

While this restriction has halted our ability to produce chocolate for the time being, we believe it’s important to stand by our principles rather than settle for a lesser product. Defiant Chocolate was built to defy expectations — and that includes standing up against decisions that limit innovation and consumer choice.

We remain committed to transparency, quality, and the pursuit of better chocolate for all. Our team is actively working toward a solution and will return stronger than ever.

We’ll be back - Follow along for updates.
